In consonance with CEC standard 5, beginning special education teachers take special consideration of each student's unique needs when selecting, developing, and adapting learning activities. Instructors are prepared to work with students that are on tiered intervention models, and are able to individualize plans across a wide range of settings. Effective special education teachers use effective communication strategies to facilitate understanding for all learners, regardless of their cultural and lingual backgrounds.
Artifact 1
Artifact 2
Artifact 2 is an example of an IEP that I created with a group of classmates for a fictional student. My classmates and I were given specific and detailed information about a student, and together we acted as an IEP committee to create an IEP for this student. Together we created a present level of performance of the student, considered special factors, determined the student's goals and the extent of special education services she would receive, and her accommodations for state-wide and district-wide assessments.
